Beautiful secluded location. Tranquil day and night, cloaked in absolute darkness at night where bats swoop and soar. Surrounded by nature you can immerse yourself in the woodland. Follow a gorgeous brook through exclusively private land. Take a long circular walk past farms and fields of sheep. Take a short drive to Crows Point in Braughton to sand dunes and a paddle in the estuary. The host is on hand if you need help and provides a welcoming cream tea on arrival. Attention to detail inside was fabulous. Everything you need in the kitchen. Waitrose delivery was very handy too. Just allow a good couple of hours to cover any traffic hold ups. Although Lynn would happily put your frozen things away! The fridge is ample for a couple and the freezer is a simple icebox that can accommodate your ice cubes and ice cream. The bed is presented with luxurious bed linen and easy to adjust to the double bed even though we are used to a super king! The most special place where you can be totally confident your dogs are safe and secure. We absolutely loved our time at Ash Mill Cabin.

If you want to be in amongst it, shops and shiny things this isn’t the place for you. If, on the other hand, you want to get away from it all you’ll struggle to find anywhere as a away from it all in southern England as here. A mile from the road, along a woodland track, you’ll find this sweet, little cabin hidden in the woods. Come prepared, if you forgot the milk it will stay forgot; there’s no shops for miles. Don’t expect amenities, but do expect the sound of of a bubbling brook, the patter of wind in the trees, the call of owls at night: silence like you’ve never heard. Expect magic; expect enchantment; expect starlight like you’ve never seen. If quiet contemplation, restoration and regeneration is your kind of thing then this place delivers beyond your wildest dreams.

Ash Mill Cabin is approached 1/2 a mile down an unmade track, a little bit challenging for my VW beetle! however, we were not disappointed when we arrived at the cabin. Location is stunning, an oasis of peace and tranquility surrounded by nature. The secure garden is totally dog proof with gates going from the garden to beautiful walks along a stream or along the bridle path which our dog absolutely loved. The cabin was really cosy and homely, we all felt very comfortable instantly. Perfect location for visiting coast and towns in the area, we also found some lovely friendly pubs serving delicious food relatively locally. Would totally recommend Ash Mill Cabin for a relaxing break away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The host is very friendly, welcoming us with delicious home made scones, we also had fresh eggs from the hens. Thank you for a lovely holiday, we would love to return some time.

A beautiful and peaceful location. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
Our dog loved the freedom to roam through the woods.
The cabin was really nice and very comfortable.

A fantastic and relaxing week with our dog. Use of a private woodland for safe of the lead walks, pure puppy paradise! Lyn was great and welcoming and the glad system for walks worked brilliantly. Cabin was cosy and spotless. Will return for a chilled break

This truly is a magical setting. In the heart of the woods with a fantastic stream running through. The pooch had her best holiday ever. Secure large garden. Lynn is a great host friendly and on hand if needed. Highly recommend this beautiful place. Hope to return at some point.

This cabin is idyllic. My husband and I stayed there 14-21 March 2020 a few days before the coronavirus "lockdown". If peace and quiet is what you are looking for, this cabin has it all. We took our very gobby german shepherd and crazy golden retriever with us and it is difficult to find totally secluded places to stay with our german shepherd who is very reactive. This was perfect. Lyn has 5 Labradors and they all barked at each other from a distance, but a simple "flag" system warns guests when Lyn has her dogs out and vice versa, so there are no surprise meetings! The cabin itself was very cosy and warm, thanks to the AGA in the kitchen. We only needed to put the log burner on one evening when it was particularly chilly. The bed was very comfortable, which is a big bonus for me, having a decent night's sleep! Lyn had left scones, jam and clotted cream for our arrival which was very welcome. We would love to visit when the weather is a little drier (and the woods less muddy!) but our girls were happy running in the garden and in the field next to it. Thank you for such a wonderful peaceful break.

We had a fantastic weekend at Ashmill Cabin, despite the wet and windy weather. The cabin was very cozy and a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life. We were greeted by Lyn the owner who is a lovely person. She provided a fantastic cream tea as a welcome gift for our arrival. Our dog Florence loved the walks in the area. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone with dogs who wants a peaceful retreat.
— Andy, Debbie and Florence the dog, 01 Mar 2020
We have just returned home after spending a few days in this totally relaxing cabin.
We were greeted by a lovely warm cabin, fresh scones jam and cream.
The Cabin is very warm, with a beautiful Arga, there is also a wood burner.
The weather wasn't the best but this didn't spoil our stay.
Lyn thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful part of Devon.
Hopefully we will see you again,
Thanks once again, and People if you want a quiet holiday in a beautiful place, book it up now
— Ray, Sue & Marley , 18 Mar 2019
The cabin was everything we had hoped for for our Christmas break. Lyn, the owner, was helpful and very friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

I booked this break at Ash Mill Cabin for our 38th wedding anniversary. I did contact the owner Lyn to ask if she would put some banners up it I sent some, she was more than happy to do this .When we arrived we were both taken a back when we walked in, there was scones with clotted cream and jam, a beautiful China teapot all ready to make a pot of tea. The kitchen was lit up with fairy lights and the warmth of the area made it so cosy, and as we went into the living room our banners were up and there were 2 glasses and a bottle of prosecco, it was all so perfect. We had a lovely welcome from Lyn the owner, and nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect too,our little yorkie just settled in like it was home. We have already said we will be booking up to go again next year, just need to decide which of the seasons we would like to see next. With the beautiful babbling stream and woodland around plus all the different wildlife it was just truly amazing the best we have visited by far.
— Jane - Forest of Dean Couple, 03 Dec 2018
No amenities for miles but this is all part of the beauty of the surroundings. Beautiful homely cabin, loved the aga, bet it's amazing in winter. The dogs loved the enclosed garden and the walks from the garden down to the stream. Lyn had kindly provided a lovely cream tea upon our arrival and the next day brought us some home grown cherry toms and freshly laid eggs! Would certainly love to visit again. No phone signal or wifi is a bit daunting given the technical age but after the first day it's actually quite refreshing and stress relieving.

Ash Mill Cabin is a wonderful place to say. Tranquil and peaceful. Fabulous walks from the cabin. The owner is lovely and helpful.
— Sue - Cheshire Couple, 21 Aug 2018
Relaxing break in very rural location. Lovely cabin and helpful owner.
— Annette, West Midlands, 03 Aug 2018
It was our second visit this year to Ash Mill Cabin.
We just had to go back. We absolutely love it there. It really is a jewel of a find.
If you are looking for peace, tranquility, lots of wildlife and escaping the hamster wheel ? it is definitely the place to go. We love the fact that mobile signal is sketchy and it has no internet as you can just tune out and really relax.
Lyn and her lovely fur babies are great. She is so welcoming, helpful but doesn’t intrude and it really feels like you have come home. It is the only holiday we have ever been on that we never want to go home.
The cabin is well equipped ( in fact the best we have ever stayed in) and the treats of cream tea and wine as well as fresh eggs on arrival are divine. We can not recommend highly enough.
Our dogs so love it too they love exploring the gardens and the surrounding woodlands. All in all a fabulous place. We will be returning.

A really unique location. Peaceful and a wonderful place to relax and recharge your batteries. Lyn is an excellent host, unobtrusive but on hand if required. The cream tea on arrival was much appreciated. The dog loved being able to walk through the woods and swim in the stream next to the cabin.

Ash Mill Cabin is just perfect for dog owners with its own secluded garden and woodland walks by the stream, wonderful freedom for our Labrador Bertie. Lyn is very welcoming and on arrival had a lovely cream tea with homemade scones and bottle of bubbly on ice waiting for us. The cabin is comfortable and well equipped, can be a little warm with Aga in hot weather and is definitely worth taking a fan with you in summer. It is very secluded and surrounded by beautiful woodland so be prepared to travel a few single track roads to local amenities. A perfect peaceful retreat to get away from it all and lovely to hear the owls hooting at night.

We had amazing time warm friendly welcome, cozy charming cabin in a generous safe garden which leads straight on to some lovely walks. We were thrilled to see dear in the meadow over the garden gate. Are holidays are normally spent near the coast and we did wonder if we would get the same enjoyment from such a secluded location but can honestly say it just added to our enjoyment and on the days we went sight seeing could not wait to return to the piece and quite of the cabin. We found Lyn to be friendly helpful but not intrusive in any way, there were no silly pointless rules layed down like you find in some places!
Returned home relaxed and looking forward to returning.

A lovely weekend in beautiful surroundings. It is hard to add to the glowing reviews that Ash Mill Cabin rightly receives; we would certainly echo what previous guests have appreciated. The setting is perfect for switching off and enjoying a secluded spot of Devon countryside. We didn't venture far as the walks from the doorstep were so enjoyable; in particular, we and our water-obsessed Labrador loved the stream and meandering along its bank though woodland and meadow. We were made to feel very welcome by Lyn and we wanted for nothing in the cosy comfort of the cabin. Would be lovely to return in the future for a longer stay....

The perfect peaceful location! Lovely surprise from our host on arrival, and ideal for a Couple with a dog/dogs. Thank you to Lyn for providing us with the perfect week away.

We had a fabulous time at Ash Mill cabin. It was a gem of a place.we loved our stay. Lynn was the perfect host, Nothing was too much trouble. The cream tea on arrival was so welcomed after the journey. The cabin was snug, comfy and had a lovely, homely, safe feel about it. We loved the fact that there was no mobile phone signal or WiFi so you can really switch off from the outside world and relax. The cabin is rural so for local amenities you do need a car to get around. Nearest shops are a few miles away, but that is not a negative point as we took a few provisions with us. The Aga in the kitchen was fantastic and kept the cabin warm. The outside space and woodland was great for the dogs, with lovely walks to explore down by the brook. The dogs loved it. We will definitely be going back.

Our second visit to Ash Mill Cabin and just as wonderful as last years visit. A lovely welcome pack on arrival, bubbly on ice, scones, cream and jam as well as the lovely veg and eggs that Lyn gave us.
This cabin is exceptional, everything we needed was provided, warm and cosy, lovely walks for our dog. Absolutely 5star in every way and I'm sure we will be back.

We had a wonderful time at Ash Mill Cabin. It was an idyllic place in wonderful surroundings. It was just what we needed for a week away.
Lyn was so friendly and welcoming, and with her lovely dogs she really couldn't have done any more to make the stay perfect. She was around if you needed her but was not at all intrusive and let us enjoy our stay.
We are hoping to return very soon.
Thank you.

Excellent place to stay for the serenity, a place to get away from it all. Couldn't fault our stay in any way and the owner Lyn was such a nice person and ever helpful.
— Haydn, 24 May 2017
We really enjoyed our week at Ash Mill Cabin. It was so welcoming on arrival and on every return from being out. The warmth of the cabin was luxurious and all the facilities of excellent quality. Away from it all, it gave us the opportunity to relax. The adjacent woodland was lovely to walk through and the sound of the stream therapeutic. We visited when it was raining mostly, but it didn't matter as the cabin was a pleasure to be in and a good excuse not to go out! Lyn the host was lovely and very kind who provided the best scones I've ever tasted with cream and jam. All the rooms were a good size and the vaulted ceilings in the lounge and bedroom made it feel even more spacious. Yes would thoroughly recommend as an experience not to be missed.
— Gail, 05 Mar 2017
We stayed at Ash Mill Cabin during a weekend in February. The temperature outside varied between 1 and 3 degrees however the cabin was warm and cosy with the Aga and woodburner and had everything you could possibly need. At night all you could hear was the nearby stream and and owls. As it was winter local amenities were few however most places we visited were within a 40 minute drive and this would be perfect if you wanted to sample the beaches and tourist areas during the day but stay in a secluded area away from the beaten track. Lyn (host) was very friendly.
I would definitely visit again.
— Jane, 10 Feb 2017
We have just spent 2 weeks, Jan 8th to Jan 22nd 2017 relaxing and just simply living in the most calming get and tranquil of locations. The cold winter nights where beaten back by the gorgeous warmth of the Aga and log burner. Within a day we felt we had already spent a week there... many thanks again... rich and Julie x
Thank you Lyn for our warm welcome and surprise home made scones and a bottle of bubbly.
We had a great stay in a truly beautiful location. We was well looked after throughout our stay... Amber and Max miss their freedom and asher..

A totally relaxing holiday located in the woods. Log cabin was truly beautiful the only noise were the hooting owls and the stream. Complete darkness so amazing star gazing. Very comfortable log cabin, loved the aga and the fairy lights. Lyn was very welcoming, and cream tea and bubbles on arrival was the perfect start to a perfect holiday. Will be back to recharge our batteries.

Being dog lovers meeting five Labradors was great. Our lab, oddly, fell in love with a chicken. The atmosphere and reception was brilliant. Really peaceful location. Walks on your doorstep. No light pollution, great views of the stars.
— David & Gaye, 16 Oct 2015
A really brilliant log cabin, very well equipped and a lovely welcome. The greyhound loved the local walks. Very peaceful and away from the hectic pace of modern life but near enough to visit the seaside and other attractions if wanted. Very good spot for wildlife
— Sue, 09 Oct 2015
We had a wonderful stay as Ash Mill Cabin. It was fully equipped with everything we needed and more! Very comfortable and the welcome bits were lovely. A real get away from everything place we would definitely go back.
— Vicki & Paul, 21 Aug 2015
Lyn,
What an utterly blissful weekend we have just had. Ash Mill Cabin is a gem of a retreat, and for us a much-needed place to unwind. I cannot tell you how comfortable we found it, and I am now entirely sold on having an Aga in my life....as is the (rather shouty) dog.
I will wait for a link from Cottages4You, to log a very positive review, but we both wanted to pass our thanks and admiration for a lovely environment, and for all the little touches - and the not so little, as the cream tea with fizz was the most wonderful thing to have on our arrival.
Very best wishes to you for the future, and to your collection of rather handsome dogs,
Melissa
— Melissa, 21 Jul 2015
Such a rare find. A lovely cabin full of charm and warmth with fantastic surroundings. There was nothing you could add to this well equipped and furnished cabin which was spotlessly clean. Cream tea and bubbly was devoured almost immediately and lovely too. A real getaway from it all place with some amazing walks by the river and through the woods. Perfect for those who like to have their dogs with them on holiday. Although the cabin was in easy reach of interesting places to visit we really did not want to be away from the cabin for long as its a true haven of peace and tranquility and very magical.
— Gwenda & Bill Weeks, 22 May 2015
We spent 2 nights at Ashmill. It was exactly what our souls needed. Warm and sheltered from April storms, then when the sun finally appeared the views over the stream and woodlands were perfect. The cabin itself has all you need and baked potatoes in the Aga were an added bonus. The nearby village of Chumleigh has butchers, bakers and a local deli so you can stock up on supplies. No wifi or phone signal so you can truly escape from the world.
— Sally, 06 Apr 2015
Four nights was not long enough! The cabin is a blissful haven in the most beautiful surroundings. It was a chilly day when we arrived and the log fire, bubbly on ice and home made scones complete with cream and jam were a delightful welcome. Lyn is very friendly and helpful, leaving us to our own devises but always helpful if we needed anything or any questions answered. We highly recommend a stay at Ash Mill, whether you have a dog in tow or not!
— Hannah, Ric and Yogi the dog, 10 Feb 2015
Idyllic 4 days spent in the peace and quiet of the Cabin. We had some wonderful walks in the woods which we and our two black Labradors (Moshi & Obi) shared with Lyn and her 5 dogs it was great seeing all 7 run together - they were born in the Cabin and had not seen their Mum and fellow siblings for almost 2 years (since they were 9 weeks old!)
Would highly recommend the Cabin and we will certainly be back.
— Marion & Bob Sellwood, 18 Sep 2014
Thank you Lyn for a wonderful weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ash Mill Cabin and can only recommend it. From the beautiful location to the cabin itself everything was perfect and we couldn't have asked for more.We will definitely be back.
— Teresa Dann and Christian Harvey, 19 Aug 2014
"Ash Mill Cabin is the perfect place to stay - beautifully furnished and near to lots of lovely towns and walking areas. The welcome hamper was a brilliant touch after an afternoon of travelling and the well-equipped kitchen was a bonus for us 'foodies' - meaning that we didn't have to always eat out. Lyn was a fantastic host and we would definitely stay again!"

We had a wonderful week at Ash Mill Cabin. The attention to detail and quality meant all the thoughtful gestures were hugely appreciated - from decent sharp knives and all the utensils and equipment you need (including board games and sieve!) to a fabulous welcome pack of home made scones, jam, cream and fizz, our hideaway week was wonderful. The peaceful setting is truly magnificent, and the large bath, aga and woodburning stove meant staying inside was fun - but we nested in the garden most of the time to enjoy the quiet, intimate setting. Great location too (we didn't miss wifi or mobile phone access - quite a surprise!), and close to Dartmoor, North Devon Coast and Exmoor. We had a lovely day at the Broomhill gallery/restaurant/sculpture park, thanks to a suggestion from Lyn. Thank you, Lyn, for being a discreet, supportive and knowledgeable host - we truly appreciated our time at the cabin. Liza and Ingo
— Liza Kellett, 17 Jul 2014
A wonderful location - everything the place says it is. We had a warm welcome which included a cream tea waiting for us with home made scones, home-made bread, wine in the fridge and local sparkling cider etc....
Ideally situated to stay and explore the woods or the local area including Dartmoor, Exmoor and the NW Devon coast.
Our German Shepherd found the place an absolute delight.
Would definitely recommend staying here
