Half way between Exmoor and Dartmoor - perfect for exploring Devon

Ash Mill Cabin is ideally situated for exploring the treasures of Devon -

it is approximately half way between Exmoor and Dartmoor, both of which can be reached within half an hour. The Town of Barnstaple is only 20 minutes away and Exeter City just under an hour.

The wonderful Tarka train line goes through Eggesford Station which is just 10 minutes away and will take you North to Barnstaple or South to Exeter and on to Exmouth. It is a beautiful scenic ride along the banks of The River Taw and well worth trying.

The nearest shops are 4 miles away in the quaint little town of Chulmleigh. There is a bakers (they really do bake on the premises), a deli, a Spar shop and a butchers. A post office and a couple of pubs.

Winkleigh is just down the road, with it's fabulous Friday fresh fish shop 'Plaice to place'. James the Fish also does a delivery round on Wednesday evenings and he'll accept emailed/phoned orders. Winkleigh is also where you will find ''The shop at the end of the world''. A cross between a grocers and a  general store, it caters for all your day to day needs. Just down the road is Winkleigh Cider where you can buy over the counter.
